Zelda is a ceramic artist based in Boston. She is captivated by the legacy of the pottery tradition and draws inspiration from its social and aesthetic archive. Her practice is mainly based in functional wheel-thrown pottery, but extends into sculptural works, papermaking, and participatory events. Each work is made in the pursuit of beauty and a closer understanding of her materials. She enjoys bringing people together through community dinners, workshops, pop-ups, and music. She is curious about history, aesthetic language, material behavior, and labor. She graduated with a BA in Anthropology and a BFA in Studio Art from Tufts University and School of the Museum of Fine Arts combined degree program and now works as a ceramics teacher to adults and teens. After graduation, she moved to Japan to deepen her knowledge of Japanese ceramics’ techniques and history, studying and making work across Bizen, Kobe, and Mashiko.
